This is the main saloon area on Ocean Scout, as viewed coming down the main steps. On the left is the chart table, from where we navigate the boat. As well as paper charts covering our sailing area, we have an electronic chart plotter and GPS. You will also find above the chart table the radar set and Navtex receiver, which picks up weather forecasts whilst we are out at sea. The table on the right folds out at meal times to provide enough space for all 14 people on board.
The picture below shows the saloon from the other end. The galley is to the left and the skipper & mate's cabin through the door to the right. All of the carpets and floorboards in the saloon lift up to reveal the engine and bilge area.
