Ocean Scout & Offshore Scout together in NorwayDuring the years that Adventures Offshore has been operating, we have operated a number of boats. Our current fleet consists of two near-identical, modern 49 foot Oyster ketches, which each sail with up to 14 people on board - including 2 or 3 afterguard (instructors) and up to 11 crew. Our vessels are equipped and maintained to a very high standard, with all the required safety equipment to meet and exceed commercial regulations.

The boats were fitted out specifically with sail training in mind and are comfortable, seaworthy and practical. Sailing the boats is a team effort, and there is plenty on board to keep crew busy. You can get an idea of what the boats are like, inside and out, from the pictures below.

Ocean Scout

Ocean Scout is the eldest of the two sister ships, built in 1993 to replace Ramrod, which had served us since 1972. She has been entered in almost every Tall Ships Race since her launch, which has taken her all over Europe. In 2006, she went on her longest voyage yet - round the famous Bay of Biscay and down to Portugal for the 50th anniversary Tall Ships Race series.

Offshore Scout was launched in 1997 as Ocean Scout's sister ship. She replaced Salex, which we had operated since 1989. Offshore Scout has also taken part in several Tall Ships Races, but in some years has stayed based in the UK over the summer, running trips back and forth between the UK and the continent instead. Offshore Scout is almost identical to her sister ship, with just enough differences to keep our afterguard on their toes!
