Tall Ships Races

    We enter at least one of our vessels in the Tall Ships Race series each year. In fact, Ocean Scout has taken part every year since her launch in 1994.

    The voyages normally take place in Europe in July and August each year and usually consist of two races with a cruise in company in between.

    There are also delivery voyages available between Ipswich and the start/finish ports.

    The Tall Ships Races are organised by Sail Training International and offer young people a unique opportunity to experience a long sea passage,

    travel abroad and meet thousands of like-minded young people on other vessels from around the world. In 2011 the full STI Tall Ships Programme

    will visit Waterford in The Irish Republic, Greenock on Scotland's North West coast and Lerwick in the Shetland. These ports are beyond our

    practical cruising range.

    Both Ocean Scout and Offshore Scout will contest Race 3 from Stavanger round the southern tip of Norway and across the head of the Baltic Sea

    to Halmstad. To link in with the race we will offer a series of spectacular cruises through the most fascinating waters in Scandinavia and

    Northern Europe.

    Tall Ships 2011 provisional programme.

    17th - 29th July.          Cruise from Ipswich across the North Sea, then through the Norwegian fjords to Stavanger .12 Days.            

    29th July - 7th August. Tall Ships Race from Stavanger across the Skaggerrak to Halmstad (Sweden) 9 Days.                       

    7th - 14th August         Cruise from Halmstad via the Danish Islands to Rendsburg (Germany) in the Kiel Canal . 7 Days.                     

    14th - 22nd August.      Cruise from Rendsburg to Amsterdam via the Frisian Islands, Waddenzee and Ijsselmeer. 8 Days.                 

    22nd - 29th August.      Cruise the Dutch waterways from Amsterdam and across the North Sea to Ipswich. 7 Days.   

    These dates and cruise destinations are still under review and may be changed.

    Cruise fees are yet to be confirmed.

    As usual we will research the best options for inexpensive travel to and from the crew change ports.

    Discounts may be available for early bookings on delivery and return voyages. Sponsorship and bursaries available for deserving young
